I have to state that I would NEVER vote Green after reading the absolute hate and vitriol that has been posted on Kittyjones blog. I thought that UKIP posters where bad, but this lot take the biscuit. I wouldn’t trust a Green now, to me they are as bad as the Conservatives.

Politics and Insights

Recently I wrote an article about Green ideology, and in particular, I explored the tension between environmentalism, human rights, equality and social justice. This is an important issue, because how ideologies are translated into policy often has profound and far-reaching social consequences.

I discussed the environmentalism and “blood and soil” philosophy underpinning the Volk and Nazi movements, the Nazis being an exemplar of the issues I raised. I also discussed Malthus, and his ideas on population growth and the finite nature of resources. I linked some of the Green philosophy and policies with Malthus’s ideas. My point was that it is not the ideas in themselves that are problematic: it is the context, the application, the way those ideas are translated via policy and the consequences that warrants some discussion.

Malthus’s ideas both informed and were informed by a context of Social Darwinism, eugenics, laissez faire capitalism, competitive individualism…

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,800 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 30 trips to carry that many people.

So sad 😦

With thanks – and apologies – to Joe Wezorek:

Given this image’s inflammatory nature, I posted it with a great deal of trepidation. I had a hard time deciding if it was the right thing to do and I am still not sure. No, I didn’t have the consent of the families of those pictured, and I apologize for any additional pain that this image causes them.

I would love to see this man as the leader of the Labour Party, but his age is against him and he talks sense unlike most of the politicians in any party!

Something to really think about…

SMILING CARCASS'S TWO-PENNETH

I finished work for Christmas this morning at 6am.

While at work, I was singing along to myself, as I often do and eventually got around to ‘Good King Wenceslas’. As I began, I thought about the words.

Did Wenceslas say to the poor man ‘we won’t give you something for nothing or you’ll become dependent on it and won’t learn to help yourself’; no, he made preparations to feed and warm the man in his [Wenceslas’s] own home.

Did he go out and take his gathered fuel, telling him he was doing him a favour, since gathering more would keep him warm and he’d burn less fuel?; no, he bade his page fetch pine logs to warm the man.

Did he offer the poor man his gathered wood back in exchange for doing a few jobs around the castle?; no, he called for ‘flesh and wine’ to feed him.

UKIP – the party of idiots and morons…

Pride's Purge

(not satire – it’s the UKIP!)

Oops!

Rotherham UKIP have (presumably) made a bit of a mistake on their advertisement wishing readers of the Rotherham Record a Merry Christmas:

UKIP page 1

Mind you, if you consider the UKIP would like to sell off everything in the UK, from healthcare to education – and for the UK to become another state of the US – you could say Rotherham branch were just being honest.

In fact, I liked their advert so much, I’ve managed to download a high quality image of it from the newspaper:

UKIP say no to UK

Big thanks to Chris Read for spotting this.
